A Primer on Hydrogen Fueled Automobiles

Submitted By: Jay Edwards

When you read the paper and watch TV news, you might conclude that the energy crisis can only be solved by automobile companies.

If you research a little more you soon discover other inventions out there that use water as motor fuel. These inventions are not mainstream but exist in the world of independent R&D firms and, sometimes, stand alone inventors.

What most of these alternative technologies have in common is that the hydrogen as motor vehicle fuel is created as it is used, or what is often called "on-demand"..

The hydrogen is produced from an instrument of some sort that creates hydrogen as it is used doing away with the need for containers of hydrogen. The fuel for creating the on board hydrogen is water, plain old water.

You might have noticed that this takes care of the 2 primary problems of the mainstream research.

When hydrogen is generated as needed there are no expensive containers of hydrogen. The only thing you add to a vehicle is a set up that creates the hydrogen and feeds it into the motor's fuel injection system.

Second of all, the energy to produce energy is inexpensive and environmentally friendly. It is an on board system that uses water. And what is cheaper and more abundant than water? And the electric current is created by motor's electrical system. Hydrogen is totally non-polluting by combining with oxygen to produce water vapor.
