Healing Scabs On Face | Dermabrasion

Submitted By: Ben Needles

Dermabrasion can help to minimize acne scars, as well as other small irregularities. This process involves removing the top layers of skin with an electrical machine. When the skin heals back the surface appears smoother and the scars are less noticeable. The procedure is very painful and usually requires a anesthetic, it is also worth noting that it can take several months for the surface skin to fully heal. Dermabrasion is not effective on all types of scars, it will generally not work on scars that are sunken beneath the skin line. The technology used to do this procedure has recently changed and it is now more commonly done with a laser.

You may not be a candidate for this procedure if you have:

* Used Accutane, a drug used to treat acne) within the last 6 to 12 months.
* A immune disorder that could make healing a problem
* Active herpes
* Recently had a face lift, or similar procedure

The most common risk is change in skin pigmentation, some less likely but more serious risk are:

* Infection
* Scarring

Remember, your face is the most visible part of your body so take your time to find a qualified doctor to do the procedure.

Obviously you would want to try some of the less costly and less risky methods of healing scabs on face, and there are many other methods listed on this blog.

You should always consult your doctor if you have any questions prior to making any decisions.
